QGIS tutorials

MAPlanGo love to help people learn mapping and spatial analysis via bespoke training and support.

Below are a series of FREE QGIS tutorials demonstrating some features & functions to help you solve ecological problems.

We’re always adding new videos so if you like what you see, check back or subscribe to our YouTube channel.

This tutorial was created to support a CIEEM QGIS training course. In it Matt, MAPlanGo Founder and Principal Consultant, demonstrates how to create buffer polygons and use them to select points within a polygon; 2 of the most commonly used GIS functions.

The tutorial is based on Bat Conservation Trust bat survey guidance.

The second tutorial demonstrates how to use OS open-data to map habitat connectivity around a survey site. Specifically, it shows you how to map woodland and wetland habitats within Bat Conservation Trust core sustenance zones.

It also shows how to use OS open-data to create a professional background to your map.

We would love to know what you think of the tutorials. Are they clear? Are they useful? What else would you find helpful? Email suggestions to matt@maplango.com
